What does it do?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), our body is vulnerable to attacks of pathogenic influences. The attacks first invade the body's surface. If not halted they further invade the interior of the body and cause more severe damages. When the attack occurs at the respiratory tract, the body reacts with symptoms like fever, cough, and headache. Pathogenic influences are considered as the Wind evil in TCM.

Cold Signoff™ works to halt the invasion of pathogenic influences at the start and relieves the associated symptoms. Cold Signoff™ is most effective when symptoms such as sore throat, runny nose, cough, nasal congestion, and headache first manifest.

Cold Signoff™ is indicated in China Pharmacopoeia2 for relieving the exterior symptoms, clearing heat, and resolving toxicity. The TCM pattern it is most applicable is called "Wind-Heat type cold" whose distincitve feature is sore throat.

You may have used Airborne®, a popular cold supplement in the US. You may be surprised to learn Airborne® is adapted from Yin Qiao Jie Du Pian and contains several ingredients appeared on Cold Signoff™. However, the amount of these ingredients in Airborne® from its product information is only a fraction of that in Yin Qiao Jie Du Pian. It is doubtful at such a low amount their strength would be strong enough.

Does research support Cold Signoff?

Modern studies suggested a pharmacological action of Yin Qiao Jie Du Pian that is consistent with its use1. In a clinical study involving 1480 people, only 2.6% of people who took Yin Qiao Jie Du Wan for 6 weeks developed Wind-Heat type cold symptoms whereas 17.55% people in the control group developed the same symptoms.1
