Hemorrhoff™ (Hua Zhi Pian, formerly Zhi Chuang Pian, Fargelin, 化痔片), is an all natural Chinese herbal supplement specially formulated to help manage complaints related to hemorrhoids.
What does it do?
Hemorrhoids occur when the veins or tissues in the lower portion of the rectum or anus become swollen, usually due to pressure. Hemorrhoids may occur inside the anus at the beginning of the rectum (internal hemorrhoids) or they may occur at the anal opening and hang outside the anus (external hemorrhoids). Hemorrhoids are very common, particularly during pregnancy and after childbirth when there is increased pressure in the pelvic cavity due to childbearing and delivery. Other common causes are straining during bowel movements, constipation, prolonged sitting and anal infections. Symptoms of hemorrhoids include anal itching and pain, bright red blood on the toilet tissue or in the stool, pain during bowel movements or hard and tender lumps near the anus.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) identifies five major possible pattern pathologies that lead to the formation of hemorrhoids. Intestinal Wind is evidenced by the presence of bright red blood. With this pattern, generally there is little or no pain and no other clear systemic pattern. Dryness of the Intestine is associated with chronic constipation. Damp Heat may be present if there is pronounced inflammation, swelling, pain and additional systemic Heat/Damp signs such as a red tongue with a greasy coat and a rapid, slippery pulse. Spleen deficiency is another possible factor which may cause hemorrhoids. In such cases, the weak Spleen fails to hold Blood in the vessels and allows Qi (energy) to sink resulting in protruding hemorrhoids and possibly even anal prolapse. General signs of Spleen Qi deficiency may include fatigue and bloating after meals. Finally, in cases where pain is severe, Blood stasis is the likely pattern. Hemorrhoids may contain blood clots and there will be additional systemic signs of blood stasis according to TCM. These patterns may present individually or in some combination. Hua Zhi Pian is a well-balanced formula that can be used to address a wide combination hemorrhoid patterns.

Hua Zhi Pian is composed of nine medicinal herbs which clear Heat, release Wind, stop bleeding, support the Spleen, lubricate the intestines and alleviate pain and itching to effectively relieve hemorrhoids.

Sheng Ma (Cimicifuga) releases Wind-Heat and eliminates toxins. It has an ascending nature with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Sheng Ma has also been studied in the treatment of rectal prolapse.1 Di Yu (Sanguisorba) is a homeostatic herb which also cools the blood and clears toxic Heat. Used in combination with Huang Qin (Scutellaria), these two herbs have a particularly effective ability to relieve bleeding hemorrhoids. Huai Hua (Sophora flower) is also used to stop bleeding. It cools the blood and drains fire. One study showed good success in treatment of hemorrhoids using Huai Hua along with Huang Qin, Sheng Ma and Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia root) plus other herbs.2 Sheng Di Huang is a powerful Yin tonic which also cools the blood and can alleviate constipation resulting from Heat entering the Large Intestine and drying the fluids.

Zi Cao (Lithospermum root) has several functions in this formula. It clears Heat and cools the blood, eliminates Heat toxins and moistens and unblocks the bowels. Zi Cao has antibiotic properties and has a stimulating effect upon the smooth muscle of the intestines. Ku Shen (Sophora root) clears Heat and dries Dampness particularly in the Lower Jiao. Ku Shen also dispels Wind, kills parasites and relieves itching. Feng Wei Cao (Chinese brake) treats Damp-Heat accumulation in the Large Intestine and reduces inflammation. Feng Wei Cao also cools the blood and eliminates toxins.

Chen Pi (Tangerine peel) is a harmonizing herb used in this formula to regulate the middle-jiao (Spleen and Stomach) and dry dampness.
